ChatGPT Ads for the agricultural industry

A user using ChatGPT does not simply type in a single keyword. They can describe a problem, specify their needs, compare options, point out limitations, and ask further questions within a single conversation. ChatGPT Ads gives brands the opportunity to appear with ads when the context of the conversation indicates that their product or service could be relevant to the user.

New advertising channel in agriculture

Advertising in ChatGPT does not affect the model’s response and is not a recommendation from ChatGPT. It is clearly labeled and separated from the response. Therefore, we do not consider campaigns as a way to „buy presence in AI responses”; rather, they are a new advertising channel where the context of the conversation, the relevance of the offer, creation, target page, and properly configured measurement are all important factors.

At Adagri, we are already working on real ChatGPT Ads campaigns in Poland, which means that we rely on the actual settings available in the Ads Manager, the emission, and the data, rather than solely on the platform documentation.

ChatGPT Ads works differently than traditional search ad

In Google, a user often starts with a short query. In ChatGPT, it can build a much broader context: describe the situation, specify the needs, narrow down the selection, and compare solutions.

For marketing purposes, this means a change in the way intent is thought about. Advertising does not have to respond solely to a single keyword. The system can take into account the context and intent of the current conversation, the target page, the ad title and text, and contextual cues prepared by the advertiser.
In the agricultural industry, this allows for building communication not only around the product name, but also around the problem, application, decision point, or need that the solution is intended to meet.

We treat ChatGPT Ads as part of a broader system agricultural marketing, and not as another advertising panel operating independently of the other channels.

Contextual hints are not keywords

At the group level, ChatGPT Ads allows you to add contextual tips. These describe the situations, topics, and needs in which a given offer could be relevant.

A good tip should not be a single general phrase. It should explain what we offer, for whom the solution is intended, and in what situation it might be useful.

In an agricultural campaign, this could be, for example, contexts related to choosing a specific solution, purchasing technology, searching for a service, or comparing available options.

However, contextual tips do not work like keyword terms in strict matching. They do not guarantee an impression for a specific phrase or in a specific conversation. They are one of the signals that help the system assess the ad’s relevance.

That’s why we don’t copy the structure of the Google Search campaign. We design ad groups around products, needs, applications, and decision-making situations.

Three goals of the ChatGPT Ads campaign

The choice of target depends on what the campaign is actually meant to change in the business.

We don’t start by choosing a billing model. First, we define the business goal and the action the user should take after interacting with the ad.

Campaign objectiveModelWhen it applies
ViewsCPMwhen the main task is visibility and delivering the message
ClicksCPCwhen we want to direct users to a product page, landing page, or website
conversionsoptimization for the selected eventwhen the campaign is intended to lead to a purchase, registration, form, or other supported conversion

Advertising must respond to the context, and not just attract attention

ChatGPT advertising may include the advertiser’s name, logo, title, description, landing page, and graphic material.

Preparing just one password is not enough. OpenAI recommends creating many different communication options so that the system can adapt the advertising to a wider range of situations.
That is why we are preparing advertising sets that show the offer from different perspectives: the customer’s problem, the application, the specific benefit, the way the product works, or the next step the user can take.

The communication should be specific. Instead of a general „best solution for agriculture”, it is better to explain what the product does, for whom it is intended, and in what situation it can actually help.

The landing page is part of the matching system

The landing page is not just the place where the user arrives after clicking. It is also one of the signals used by the system to assess the effectiveness of the advertisement.

Therefore, the campaign and the landing page must speak the same language.

If the advertisement meets a specific need, the user should immediately find the development of that answer, the most important arguments, evidence, product information, and a clear next step after clicking on the ad.

We analyze the target page before launching the campaign. If necessary, we can optimize it or prepare a dedicated landing page.

Targeting in Poland – important differences compared to Google and Meta

ChatGPT Ads is available in Poland in the self-service Ads Manager.

Campaigns can be targeted geographically and selected platforms on which they can be displayed, including web, iOS, and Android. The scope of available geotargeting depends on the currently supported locations in the Ads Manager.

In Poland and other countries of the European Economic Area, personalization of advertising and custom audiences are not currently available.

This means that we are not building a ChatGPT Ads strategy for the Polish market using traditional remarketing from user lists or our own audiences databases.

They are primarily of importance:

  • the context and intent of the conversation,
  • contextual clues,
  • geolocation,
  • selected platforms,
  • the quality of advertising,
  • the target page,
  • the goal of the campaign,
  • rate and budget,
  • conversion data.

This is a significant difference compared to platforms on which a large part of the campaign relies on extended segments of the audience.

Pixel OpenAI and Conversions API – the campaign should know what the result is

Clicking itself does not mean success.

ChatGPT Ads allows you to measure actions performed after visiting the page using the Measurement Pixel and Conversions API.

We can measure, among other things, purchases, the submission of a lead form, the completion of registration, the start of the checkout process, or the scheduling of an appointment – depending on the nature of the service and the event implemented.

In campaigns aimed at conversions, we choose a specific supported event for which the system is to optimize the conversion.

That is why before launching a campaign, we check not only the advertising but also the analytics. If the platform receives incorrect signals, it will optimize the result, which does not necessarily have a business value.

ChatGPT Ads does not give the advertiser access to user conversations

The context of the conversation helps the system assess the effectiveness of the ad, but this does not mean that the advertiser has access to the content of conversations conducted by users with ChatGPT.

The advertiser manages the campaign, creatives, contextual cues, budget, and measurement of results. They do not receive private conversations from users.

This is an important distinction, especially when planning campaigns based on context.

Seasonality still matters

The new channel does not change the basic principle of agricultural marketing: advertising must appear at the right time.

Agricultural products and services for farms have different decision-making cycles. Campaigns for digital tools are planned differently from those for products used at a specific agrotechnical time, and even more so for machinery or investments undertaken over several months.

ChatGPT Ads allows you to set a budget and campaign dates, so we can adjust the intensity of our activities to the season, the product launch, or a specific sales period.

However, we do not assume that every product should be advertised all year round. First, we determine when a user starts searching for information and when advertising can be of greatest importance for their decision.

Not every category can be advertised

ChatGPT Ads is still a developing platform, and OpenAI specifies the categories of ads that can be broadcast and the types of products and services subject to restrictions.

Therefore, before preparing the campaign, we verify the compliance of the advertised product, the target page, and the communication with the current OpenAI guidelines.

We do not automatically assume that every company or product in the agricultural industry qualifies for emissions. The possibility of launching a campaign depends on the current rules, the product category, and the advertising verification process.

How do we measure effectiveness?

How do we measure effectiveness?

The starting point is the goal of the campaign.

In visibility-oriented campaigns, we analyze the emission and cost of reaching the target audience. In mobile campaigns, we look at clicks, CTR, CPC, and user behavior after visiting the page.

If the goal is a business outcome, we configure conversion measurement. This can be a contact form, registration, purchase, or other supported event that corresponds to the actual goal of the campaign.

We combine data from Ads Manager with site analytics to evaluate not only the activity in the advertising panel, but also the quality of traffic and user behavior after clicking.

How does running a ChatGPT Ads campaign look like?

  • Verification of emission possibilitiesWe check the product, category, target page, and compliance with the current OpenAI guidelines.
  • Defining the goalWe determine whether the campaign should build visibility, generate traffic, or lead to a specific conversion.
  • Analysis of the contexts and needs of the recipientWe define situations, problems, applications, and moments in which the offer can be relevant to the user.
  • Structure of the campaign and advertising groupsWe organize products, needs and messages, and prepare contextual tips.
  • Preparing ads and landing pagesWe create variations of titles, descriptions, and layouts, and verify the target page's compliance with the message.
  • Conversion measurementWe configure or verify the Measurement Pixel, Conversions API, and events that correspond to the business goal.
  • Launch and optimizationWe analyze the emission, rates, budget, creations, contexts, and results, then develop the variants with the greatest potential.
  • ReportingWe assess the effectiveness of the campaign in terms of the business goal and recommend further actions.

What does the client receive?

The scope of the campaign may include:

  • verification of the possibility of conducting advertising for a given category,
  • configuring or organizing the OpenAI Ads Manager account,
  • campaign strategy and target selection,
  • the structure of the campaign and ad groups,
  • preparation of contextual tips,
  • preparation of advertising texts and design variants,
  • recommendations for the target party,
  • configuration or support for the implementation of conversion measurement,
  • running and ongoing optimization of campaigns

Why ChatGPT Ads from Adagri?

  • We know the agricultural industry: We understand seasonality, products, the language of the market, and the differences between the categories of agriculture.
  • We are already working on the real Ads Manager in Poland, This allows us to develop the service based on actual emissions and data.
  • We combine media with analytics and technology: The campaign can include not only ad placement but also creation, landing page, tracking, and conversion analysis.
  • We are not confusing advertising with organic visibility in AI. ChatGPT Ads is a paid advertising channel. SEO, GEO, and AI Search are responsible for another area of the brand's presence, and we manage them as a separate process.
  • We look at the business result: The goal is not just to have ads appear in ChatGPT, but to use the new channel where it can support sales, leads, registrations, or build interest.

Most common questions

  1. 1. Does ChatGPT Ads already work in Poland?

Yes. Poland is covered by self-service access to the OpenAI Ads Manager, and campaigns can be created and managed directly from the advertising account.

  2. 2. Is it possible to target advertising to specific keywords?

Not in the same way as Google Search. ChatGPT Ads uses context and conversational intent, as well as contextual cues prepared by the advertiser. The cues can include topics or words related to the offer, but they are not a strict match and do not guarantee a response for a specific query.

  3. 3. Can advertising influence the response of ChatGPT?

No. The ads are separate from the model's responses and do not affect the content of the responses. The advertiser does not purchase ChatGPT recommendations.

  4. 4. Is it possible to run remarketing to your own audiences in Poland?

Non-standard audiences and ad personalization are not currently supported in campaigns targeting the European Economic Area. Therefore, we do not base our strategy on classic remarketing lists for Polish campaigns.

  5. 5. Can ChatGPT Ads optimize the campaign for leads or sales?

Yes. The platform supports campaigns optimized for selected standard conversion events. Measurement can be performed using the Measurement Pixel, the Conversions API, or both solutions.

  6. 6. Are you also preparing a tracking system?

Yes. We can help you configure the measurement of events that correspond to the goal of the campaign and verify the correctness of their performance before launching conversion optimization.

  7. 7. Can any company in the agricultural industry advertise on ChatGPT?

There is no such guarantee. OpenAI currently lists the categories of ads that are supported and those that are not, and is conducting an ad verification process. Before starting a project, we verify that a given offer can currently be advertised.

  8. 8. Do ads appear to all ChatGPT users?

No. Ads are available only for users and plans for which OpenAI provides advertising space. Therefore, the number of all ChatGPT users should not be considered as a potential audience for the campaign.

  9. 9. Will ChatGPT Ads replace Google Ads?

No. The channels respond to partially different user behaviors. Google Ads still very well captures active search demand. ChatGPT Ads gives the opportunity to appear in a different environment – during a conversation, analyzing the problem, and comparing options. In many projects, both channels can complement each other.

It will appear in the new channel exactly when the user is analyzing the options.
